With Easter this weekend, Peter Cottontail is bound to be hopping down that good old bunny trail, delivering all sorts of Easter eggs along the way. But you know, old long-ears isn’t the only one to deliver Easter eggs.

In fact, many automakers like to work in little Easter eggs of their own into the vehicles that they design. Some of these surprises can be obvious, while others are a little harder to find.

In the spirit of the Easter season, we here at The News Wheel have decided to assemble a list of the 10 best vehicles with surprising automotive Easter eggs.

Porsche Panamera

Easter Egg: Panamera Key Fob

For the Porsche Panamera, the most impressive Easter egg isn’t even featured within the vehicle itself. Rather, Panamera drivers need only look down at their keys to find it. The key fob of the Porsche Panamera resembles the shape of the vehicle itself. That way, you can take your Panamera with you wherever you go.

McLaren P1

Easter Egg: McLaren Emblem Headlights

The McLaren emblem is iconic, yet simplistic. Therefore, it would be pretty easy for the designers at McLaren to implement it right into their vehicles. The McLaren P1 sports car features the symbol front and center as the distinct shape for its headlights.

Renault Twingo RS

Easter Egg: Start, Stop, and Pause Pedals

When you think about it, your car’s braking and accelerating pedals are almost like the stop and start buttons on a DVD. When designing the Twingo RS, Renault took that comparison to heart. As such, the pedals for the Renault Twingo RS have Start, Stop, and Pause symbols printed right on them, in case you forgot what they do.

Pagani Huayra

Easter Egg: Soy Bean Side Mirrors

With a fuel economy of 10/14 City/Highway mpg, the Pagani Huayra is hardly the most environmental model. Perhaps its designers were trying to make up for that fact with the next Easter egg on our list. If you look carefully, the Huayra’s side mirrors resemble soy bean stalks.

Ford Mustang

Easter Egg: Mustang Puddle Lamp Projection

Much like the Bat-Signal calling the Caped Crusader into action, the Ford Mustang has a call-to-action of its own. The Ford Mustang can be equipped with specialized puddle lamps. When the lamps are activated, the vehicle projects the iconic mustang that represents, well, the Ford Mustang onto the ground.

The 2017 Chrysler 200 recently earned a 5-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA

Chrysler 200

Easter Egg: Hidden Detroit Skyline

The city of Detroit is very important to the Chrysler brand. It is at the heart of every vehicle that Chrysler creates. Specifically for the Chrysler 200, it is literally a part of the vehicle, as the console mat of the model has the Detroit skyline worked into its design.

Volvo has received yet another industry award, this time winning the Brand Design Language Award for 2016

Volvo XC90

Easter Egg: Storage Bin Spider

Those looking under the storage bins of the Volvo XC90 are bound to find a new friend. Printed right onto the web-like design of the bin’s roof is the image of a friendly, grinning spider. This is a pleasant surprise for anyone who doesn’t suffer from arachnophobia.

Vauxhall Corsa

Easter Egg: Glove Box Shark

Of course, the animal you’ll find implemented into the Vauxhall Corsa’s design looks a lot less friendly than Volvo’s spider. According to rumors, one of the Corsa’s designers was dared by a fellow colleague to work a shark into the vehicle. The result of that challenge is the image of a fearsome shark printed onto the hinge of the glove box.

Jeep Renegade

Easter Egg: Rear Hatch Window Sasquatch

You could probably spend a whole day looking for Easter eggs scattered throughout the Jeep Renegade and still not find them all. From the classic Jeep grille implemented into the headlights to a map of Moab near the center console, the Renegade is full of surprises. However, our favorite Easter egg might just have to be a tiny Sasquatch found on the rear hatch window of the vehicle.

Truth About Tesla

Tesla Model S

Easter Egg: “Ludicrous Speed” Mode

Elon Musk and his team went all out when designing fun Easter eggs for the Tesla Model S. Perhaps you are familiar with the ability to virtually send your Tesla S down Rainbow Road. However, best of all is the hidden Ludicrous Speed mode for the Model S, which allows it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.28 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating production car in the world! Now that’s an Easter egg with a practical purpose.

Do you have a favorite automotive Easter egg that didn’t make it onto the list? Feel free to share it with us and celebrate all the little secrets that automakers work into the vehicles we drive.
