The 2016 Kia Sportage sold 1,500 units in its first weekend

The 2016 Kia Sportage has always been a hit in the United States—some might even say it’s one of the most popular crossovers out on the road. Now, it looks like the United Kingdom is getting a taste of the Sportage crossover’s flair—and it’s falling in love.

Within the first weekend of the 2016 Sportage model going on sale in the UK, 1,500 customers have put down deposits. If this number is a prediction of the crossover’s future UK sales, then it is likely set to repeat the previous Sportage model’s sales success.

“The all-new Sportage is a significant step forward for Kia, both in terms of interior quality and dynamic refinement and sophistication—and clearly both existing and new customers recognize that fact,” said Paul Philpott, President and Chief Executive of Kia UK. “Our dealers have only one worry—can we satisfy the demand? Well, both Kia in the UK and our factory in Slovakia are working flat-out to ensure we can.”

In the UK, the Kia Sportage is available in 18 trim levels. Its pricing ranges from £17,995 to £31,645, making the type of vehicle that can fit practically every individual’s need.
