Cadillac currently builds the CTS and ATS sedans at its Lansing Grand River plant, but the facility is about to get a $175 million makeover that will allow it to assemble a pair of not-yet-announced vehicles.

Those two new vehicles are expected to hit showrooms by 2021.

“Cadillac is on the cusp of rolling out the most aggressive product portfolio expansion in the brand’s history,” Cadillac President Steve Carlisle said in a statement. “The continued investment in our North American facilities helps ensure we will remain on the forefront of manufacturing technology as our next generation of luxury vehicles are launched.”

Although it’s not clear yet which vehicles will be assembled at the Lansing plant, Cadillac has been working hard to inject new life into its lineup.

The Lansing announcement follows a $253 million investment last year in the brand’s plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Cadillac builds the recently introduced XT5 mid-size SUV in Spring Hill and has plans to build another SUV there as well.

Meanwhile, Cadillac’s new XT4 crossover is coming out this fall, and in 2019, the brand plans to introduce the XT6, a large SUV.

Cadillac’s sedan lineup is in for some major changes, too. The automotive world has been buzzing about the possibility that Cadillac will send its Escala concept car into production soon.

The brand is also expected to announce a pair of new sedan models to replace the CTS, XTS, and ATS. Are those two new vehicles the ones that will be built at the Lansing plant? Stay tuned.
