The 1964th 50 Years Limited Edition Mustang sold for $170K in Las Vegas

The 1,964th 50 Years Limited Edition Ford Mustang hit the auction block and caused quite a stir, ultimately raising $170,000 at the Barrett-Jackson auction. The winning bidder was one Jack Fairchild.

The proceeds from the auction benefit Get Your Heart Racing, which supports Henry Ford Health System’s Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute.

“It’s a privilege to benefit from the auction of such a spectacular automobile,” said Sandy Hudson, chief development officer, Henry Ford Hospital. “Henry Ford Hospital and its Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute are grateful for our ongoing relationship with both Ford and Barrett-Jackson that has allowed us to raise incredible amounts of funding for the Get Your Heart Racing program.”

Ford announced the 50 Year Limited Edition back in April prior to the 50th anniversary of the release of the original Mustang. The production run—limited to 1,964 examples—pays homage to the Mustang’s inaugural year.

It was revealed last month that Ford executive chairman Bill Ford is the owner of 50 Years Limited Edition model 0001. Ford also raffled a one-off 50 Years Limited Edition Mustang convertible in August at the Woodward Dream Cruise, with proceeds benefitting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

“We’re thrilled the No. 1,964 50 Years Limited Edition Mustang captured so much attention at the Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas auction,” said Jim Owens, Ford Shelby, Boss and Mustang marketing manager. “Ford’s long-standing relationship with Barrett-Jackson gives us the opportunity to benefit charities like the Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute through the sale of exciting and rare Ford vehicles. The 50 Years Limited Edition 2015 Mustang is no exception.”
