What kid sentient being doesn’t love Legos? The plastic building blocks are even appealing to all of us gearheads, who have been known to take the rectangular blocks and turn them into a sleek super fast ride now and then. Most recently, Lego released a Mini Cooper Lego edition to much fanfare, but some of us are really itching to see an American model released in an automotive kit straight out of Lego. Enter the 1969 Chevy Corvette Lego model, created by Lego Ideas member, Dave (“Brickdater”).

Lego Ideas is a great place for true Legos fans and builders to generate ideas to present to Lego, in hopes of seeing them sold and marketed in their own kits (and earning a portion of the profits). The catch? Much like the Change.org petition website, which requires a certain number of signatures before the White House will review it, the Lego Ideas site requires 10,000 supporters before the Lego Review Board will take a look. (And, of course, to support a project, you have to sign up for an account on the site). Each project has a year to generate the support.

At the time of publication, the 1969 Chevy Corvette Lego model had 2,711 supporters and a whopping 347 days left, meaning this thing has caught on fast. Still, to really give this model a chance, Dave will need more than 7,000 more supporters to join and vouch for him. Will you?
