2009 Nissan GT-R Recalled for Steering Column Issue
Even some of the best cars on the road aren’t immune to recalls. The 2009 Nissan GT-R is being recalled along with some Infiniti EX35, FX35, and FX45 models for an issue with the steering column.
Here’s the important bit from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration:
The steering column outer tube may not be round, resulting in extra stress being applied to the upper steering bearing. This stress may cause the bearing retainer to fracture, creating extra play in the steering wheel or a possible loss of steering.
The recall affects 2009 GT-Rs manufactured from March 14, 2007, to April 25, 2008. Nissan will reach out to owners of these vehicles and arrange free repairs. This repair involves replacing the entire steering column assembly.
It hasn’t been reported whether or not there have been any injuries or deaths from this issue. If you own a GT-R and have any questions, call the GT-R Hotline at 1-866-668-1487. Owners of the Infiniti models listed should call 1-800-662-6200 to see if their vehicles are included in this recall.
