What’s New for the 2013 Buick Regal

A new standard powertrain is one big change for the 2013 Buick Regal, along with upgrades to the standard IntelliLink electronics interface. The Turbo models also get a standard heated steering wheel.

2013 Buick Regal Exterior

The 2013 Regal brings luxury back to the Buick line. A sleekly curved profile and horizontally-slatted front grille create an elegant profile, while the integrated spoiler adds a touch of athleticism that hints at the sedan’s pure power.

2013 Buick Regal Performance

Three different powertrains are available for the 2013 Regal. The base engine is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with a mild hybrid technology called eAssist. It returns 182 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque and comes standard with a six-speed automatic with manual shift control.

The second engine option is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that churns out a bit more power with 220 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Along with the standard six-speed automatic is an available six-speed manual.

For the GS model, a slightly tweaked version of this turbocharged engine is available with even more horsepower at 270. The six-speed manual is standard, while the six-speed automatic is available as an option.

2013 Buick Regal Efficiency

EPA-estimated fuel economy for the base Regal engine is 29 mpg combined, while the Turbo models are rated at 22 mpg combined for the automatic and 24 for the manual. The GS has the lowest fuel economy with 22 mpg combined.

The 2013 Buick Regal brings upscale to life with a beautifully appointed cabin that features a new touchscreen that incorporates Buick’s IntelliLink interface, which connects you to Pandora radio via Bluetooth. The front seats provide a strong support while driving, while the comfortable rear seats provide enough space for smaller passengers.

According to government crash tests, the 2013 Buick regal is worthy of a five-star rating, while the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Regal the highest score of “Good” in its frontal-offset, side-impact, and roof strength tests.
