What’s New for the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro

For the 2013 model year, the Chevy Camaro LT, SS, and ZL1 models get a new MyLink touchscreen audio system, along with a new MyLink-based GPS navigation system option. For those SS models with a manual transmission, a new road-racing-inspired 1LE option package is available and hill-start assist is now standard on all manual transmission models.

2013 Chevrolet Camaro Exterior

If the car industry was a high school, the 2013 Chevy Camaro would be the state-champion quarterback. With a classic, yet sexy silhouette and hard lines emphasizing the pony car’s athleticism, there’s no denying that the Camaro’s handsome. Add the retro hood vents, and you’ve got yourself a car that’s difficult to look away from.

2013 Chevrolet Camaro Performance

Three different engine options are available for the 2013 Chevy Camaro, though they depend on the model you choose. For the Camaro LS and LT, a 3.6-liter V6 is the ticket, producing 323 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual is standard, though it comes with the option of a six-speed automatic.

A 6.2-liter V8 is the engine of choice for the Camaro SS, which produces an impressive 426 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque with the standard six-speed manual. With the six-speed automatic, the V8 gets 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque.

For the Camaro ZL1, a supercharged version of the V8 cranks out a powerful 580 hp and 556 lb-ft of torque. Once again, a six-speed manual is standard, though it does come with an optional six-speed automatic.

2013 Chevrolet Camaro Efficiency

The EPA-estimated fuel economy for the V6 engine comes in at 22 mpg combined with the automatic transmission and 20 combined for the manual. The SS’s V8 is rated at 19 mpg combined for the manual and 18 for the automatic, while the ZL1’s supercharged V8 comes in with the lowest mpg with 16 combined for the manual and 14 combined for the automatic.

2013 Chevrolet Camaro Interior

Normally, pony cars are more focused on what’s underneath the hood rather than what’s in the car’s cabin. For the 2013 year, the Camaro has diverged from this tradition, providing consumers with a retro-styled interior that features unique features, such as square bezels around the gauges. The MyLink display interface provides both driver and passenger with a way to stay in-tuned with smartphone integration, while the front seats provide a comfortable place to put your tush, though the Camara’s back seat is smaller than the rest of its class.

2013 Chevrolet Camaro Safety

The 2013 Camaro received a top five-star rating overall in government crash tests. Standard safety features include antilock disc brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags. The OnStar emergency telematics system also comes standard.
