2013 GOOD DESIGN™ Award

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

The famous saying goes, “I don’t know much about art, but I know what I like.” Two of the world’s most renowned architecture museums know a lot about art, and they agree that what they like is the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe.  The Santa Fe was named this year’s recipient of the 2013 GOOD DESIGN™ Award in the transportation category.  This year’s honor, handed out by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, marks the third consecutive GOOD DESIGN™ Award victory for Hyundai.

The GOOD DESIGN Awards are held annually in order to recognize the world’s best industrial and graphic designers and world manufacturers for their efforts to instill beauty into everyday life.  Celebrating its 64th anniversary in 2013, the GOOD DESIGN™ Awards represent the oldest and most prestigious honor given in the architecture and design fields.  This year’s award winners were determined by an international jury of professionals, leaders, and experts who gathered in Chicago; more than 700 product designs from 38+ countries earned 2013 GOOD DESIGN™ Awards, including the luxurious-looking 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe and its “Storm Edge” design language.

“Hyundai prides itself on pushing the envelope in regards to style and design,” said Chris Chapman, chief designer, Hyundai Design Center, in the automaker’s official statement.  “With the 2013 Santa Fe, we wanted the vehicle to be a functional, mobile sculpture and receiving the 2013 GOOD DESIGN™ Award for transportation acknowledges this design achievement.”
