2013 Hyundai Veloster Overview

What’s New for the 2013 Hyundai Veloster

For the 2013 model year, the Hyundai Veloster receives an addition to its lineup with the new Turbo model, which boosts the hatchback’s horsepower up 63 units. There is also a new Re:MIX edition, which takes the standard Veloster and adds a bit more spunk to its exterior with a body kit and special wheels.

2013 Hyundai Veloster Exterior

If the Hyundai Elantra and Mini Cooper had a baby, more likely than not, it would look like the 2013 Hyundai Veloster. With a steeply sloping roof ending in a low hatchback, the Veloster looks almost as if it belongs in the sequel of TRON: Legacy, though its sedate front end keeps the hatchback from looking too outlandish.

2013 Hyundai Veloster Performance

A 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine powers the 2013 Hyundai Veloster, producing 138 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. The hatchback comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel-drive, though the optional six-speed automated manual transmission (DCT) is also available at the price of a bit less horsepower.
For the Veloster Turbo, a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine generates a healthy 201 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. It is also available with either the six-speed manual or the DCT.

2013 Hyundai Veloster Efficiency

Fuel efficiency for the base Veloster, whether it has the manual transmission or the DCT, comes in at an EPA-estimated 31 mpg combined. The Veloster Turbo gets a slightly lower mpg with 28 combined for both transmissions.

2013 Hyundai Veloster Interior

The Veloster’s cabin has a modern design with special touches that are definitely appealing to the younger generations. In the Turbo, splashes of blue trim add a nice ambience, while the controls are set up in a sensible way. The three-door set up, with one door on the driver’s side and two on the passenger, adds some character to the 2013 Veloster, while also allowing for a decent amount of leg and cargo room.

2013 Hyundai Veloster Safety

The 2013 Hyundai Veloster comes standard with antilock brakes, stability and traction control, front side airbags, and side curtain airbags. Hyundai BlueLink, an emergency telematics system, is also standard, providing services such as automatic crash notification and remote door unlock.
