BMW Debuted the 2014 4 Series Convertible at the Los Angeles Auto Show

Continuing the rollout of its newly-minted 4 Series, BMW debuted the 2014 4 Series Convertible at the Los Angeles Auto Show on Wednesday and confirmed what purists and enthusiasts had surmised: the new convertible carries over many of the qualities that made the 3 Series a success while introducing enough new perks to keep drivers coming back for more.

The 2014 BMW 4 Series Convertible will be offered in both 428i and 435i configurations.  The former, which represented the 4 Series Convertible at the Los Angeles Auto Show in a pristine white model,  will come standard with a 2.0L turbocharged inline-four that is capable of producing 240 horsepower and 255 lb.-ft. of torque and can make the needle climb from zero-to-sixty in 6.2 seconds.  The 435i, on the other hand, comes fitted with the 3.0L turbocharged inline-six that ups the ante to a burly 300 hp and 300 lb.-ft. of torque and drops the 0-60 time to 5.5 seconds.

Both the 428i and the 435i versions of the 4 Series Convertible will come with an eight-speed automatic transmission; BMW states that the manual transmission will not be made available in the U.S.  Available in the first quarter of 2014 at showrooms across the United States, the new 4 Series Convertible will come available in Sport Line, Luxury Line, and M Sport trims with pricing starting at $48,750 for the 428i and $54,900 for the 435i.
