2014 Abarth Track Experience Adds Three Locations
The 2014 Abarth Track Experience will launch this fall, with three additional stops on the schedule this year. Added to the list are Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California; Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida; and Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut.
The 2014 Abarth Track Experience is a one-day opportunity for drivers of the new Fiat 500 Abarth to develop their driving skills with some professional help. In total, drivers will put an Abarth (from a fleet) through four driving modules, which include autocross, driving dynamics, head-to-head challenge, and performance drive. At the end of the day, drivers will move over into the passenger seat while professional drivers take the track-tuned Abarths to a new level of performance.
The fleet of Fiat 500 Abarths will be available this year with the optional six-speed automatic gearbox, which has been fine-tuned for higher torque capability. The transmission is paired with the Abarth’s 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine, good for 183 lb-ft of torque and 157 hp. The Abarths will even feature the Sport mode, which includes features like brake-assist downshifts, corner gear hold, fast-off gear hold, fuel-cut upshifts, and rev-matching downshifts.
“As the Abarth Track Experience becomes more popular, we’re expanding the schedule to ensure more customers have the opportunity to develop their driving skills in a safe track environment,” said Jason Stoicevich, Head of FIAT Brand North America. “Now, with the addition of the specially tuned automatic transmission as an option for the 2015 Fiat 500 Abarth and Abarth Cabrio, we expect even more customers will want to join in the fun.”
Registration for the 2014 Abarth Track Experience is included in the cost of the Fiat 500 Abarth or Abarth Cabrio.
