What’s New for the 2014 BMW M5

For the 2014 model year, the BMW M5 now has an optional Competition package, which bumps the horsepower up by 15, uses a different exhaust system, and has unique 20-inch wheels and a minor chassis revision. Minor style updates are also applied to all M5s, along with a new steering wheel and touchpad entry capability for the iDrive infotainment system.

A turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine powers the rear-wheel-drive 2014 M5, producing a healthy 560 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque. The seven-speed automated manual with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters is standard with a six-speed conventional manual available at no-cost. Also standard is an automatic stop-start engine function and torque-vectoring rear differential.

According to the EPA, the M5 is rated at 15 city mpg and 22 highway with its turbocharged 4.4-liter.
