BMW is headed in the right direction, and the brand’s US sales figures for 2014 are proof of that. Having successfully launched the i3 and i8, as well as built brand awareness in the technology and eco-conscious fields, BMW did more than enough for an incredible year.

Achieving the highest unit sales for a calendar year to date, BMW sales totaled 395,850.

2014 BMW Sales Results Impress Despite Shaky MINI Performance

2013 had been the record-holder for BMW, but 2014 surpassed the mark with a 5.3% increase. December 2014 BMW sales results totaled 48,141 units, a 9.5% increase compared to December 2013–an impressive return. Of all the luxury brand sales results in 2014, BMW came out on top, beating competitors like Mercedes-Benz and Audi.

“The record result in 2014 for BMW proves that solid growth is still possible when you have the right products that provide good value for the customer,” said Ludwig Willisch, the President and CEO of BMW of North America. “The increases across the BMW line make us optimistic about what’s possible in 2015.”

The auto group did suffer from setbacks due to an underwhelming 2014 performance by MINI, with sales down 15.6% from 2013–despite a record-breaking December for the British brand.

Many analysts are optimistic about BMW’s projected results in 2015, especially considering the numerous technology innovations revealed by the brand at the Consumer Electronics Show. Unfortunately, that success depends largely on what BMW decides to do about MINI.
