2014 BMW X5 Overview
What’s New for the 2014 BMW X5
For the 2014 model year, the X5 has been completely redesigned, featuring updated styling, revamped engines, and more interior space than ever before.
2014 BMW X5 Exterior
A streamlined body and subtle curves combine to create an aerodynamically-focused silhouette that allows the X5 to glide through the air like never before. The typical BMW kidney shaped grille makes itself known on the subtly elegant front fascia, while expertly sculpted lines create the illusion of motion, even when the X5 is stopped.
2014 BMW X5 Performance
Both the sDrive35i (rear-wheel-drive) and the xDrive35i (all-wheel-drive) models are powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine that churns out 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque with an eight-speed automatic transmission. For those looking for a diesel alternative, the xDriver35d offers a diesel-powered 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 that gets 255 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. Finally, for optimum power, the xDrive50i has a turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 able to produce 450 hp and 470 lb-ft or torque.
2014 BMW X5 Efficiency
EPA-estimated fuel economy for the 3.0-liter traditionally powered engine sits at 22 mpg combined. The fuel economy for the diesel engine has yet to be announced, while the 4.4-liter is rated at 17 mpg combined.
2014 BMW X5 Interior
An elegant, tastefully constructed interior layout shows that the X5 is a BMW. The gauges and controls are all easy to see and use, creating a simple, comfortable interior that is enhanced by extremely comfortable seats and plenty of legroom. In order to keep the driver connected to both the outside world and the car, the iDrive interface allows for the easy adjustment of all systems and now includes a touchpad on the control knob for handwritten inputs.
2014 BMW X5 Safety
Standard safety features for the 2014 BMW X5 includes stability and traction control, antilock brakes, automatic brake drying, front side airbags, side curtain airbags and active head restraints, along with the BMW Assist emergency communications system, which provides automatic crash notification, stolen vehicle recovery, and on-demand road assistance.
