The 2014 Cadillac ELR is an eye-catcher with smooth, sweeping lines that create an aesthetically pleasing exterior, while remaining aerodynamic. While it’s based on the Chevrolet Volt, there are no similarities in body panels or dimensions, adding a touch of class to the Volt platform.

Similar to the Chevrolet Volt, the ELR has a T-shaped 15.5-kilowatt lithium-ion battery and a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine, but adds a bit of distance over the Volt. This combination boasts 217 hp when the four-cylinder kicks into action and 157 hp on the battery and electric motor. The 240-volt recharge time is set at 5 hours, giving the ELR an electric range of 37 miles.

Cadillac’s new electric hybrid gets 31 mpg city and 35 mpg highway for its gas-powered powertrain, while the all-electric range gets 82 MPGe (equivalent).
