2014 Chevy Sonic Review

2014 Chevy Sonic

It is no secret in the automotive industry that car makers want to attract young car buyers, and that is what the sporty Sonic subcompact has done for Chevrolet.  A perfect blend of fuel economy, bold styling, technology, and a low asking price has managed to lure the highly coveted demographic to the bowtie, and Chevy believes it will do an even better job this year with the refreshed 2014 Chevy Sonic.

The Sonic has a history of firsts.  It was the first and only car in its class to earn a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Safety Score from the NHTSA and to offer 10 standard airbags.  That pioneering trend continues in the 2014 Chevy Sonic, as it is the first car in its class to offer a turbocharged engine and 40 mpg highway.

Also new for the 2014 model year are the stylish Dusk and performance-inspired RS trims, which Chevy hopes will gain even more young car-buyers.

“Keeping the Sonic lineup fresh and offering consumers more choice is a priority for Chevrolet,” said Cristi Landy, marketing director for Chevrolet small cars, in a press release.  “The Sonic RS and Dusk sedans offer all of the great attributes that have made the Sonic a popular choice in the subcompact segment and they add performance and design cues.”
