2014 Corvette Stingray Beats Power Projections
When The News Wheel first got a look at the 2014 Corvette Stingray at the Detroit Auto Show, Chevy promised that the iconic LT1 engine would pump out at least 450 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft. of torque. It turns out the automaker kept its word, and then some.
Powered by the 6.2-liter V8 LT1 engine, the seventh generation of the iconic Corvette will pump out 455 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. Drivers who opt for the sports exhaust system will see those numbers bolstered to 460 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque, which will propel the 2014 Corvette from 0-60 mph in less than four seconds.
The immense performance output of the LT1 engine effectively makes the 2014 Stingray the most powerful Corvette ever.
“The 2014 Corvette Stingray’s LT1 engine is a triumph of advanced technology, delivering more power and torque than ever before with greater efficiency,” said Jordan Lee, Small Block chief engineer, in a press release.
