What’s New for the 2014 Hyundai Sonata
The year 2014 is a year of change for the Sonata with a refreshed design, new power output, and a quieter ride making the sedan better than ever before. Add the significant changes in standard and available features, such as a standard driver-selectable steering effort, and there’s no denying that the Sonata is one appealing car.

From its meticulously sculpted front facade to the tip of the integrated rear spoiler, the 2014 Hyundai Sonata is a work of art. Sexy, chiseled bodylines and smooth curves create an aerodynamic silhouette that appears to cut through the wind like a knife through butter. The optional panoramic sunroof adds an elegant touch to the Sonata’s exterior, creating a sedan that would make anyone envious.

A 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine comes standard on the 2014 Sonata GLS, producing 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque, while the SE uses the same engine with a few tweaks to get it 192 hp and 181 lb-ft. A six-speed automatic is standard with front-wheel drive.
Available on the SE and Limited models is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that gets some major hp (274 to be exact), as well as 269 lb-ft of torque.

Fuel economy for the 2.4-liter comes in at an EPA-estimated 28 mpg combined, while the turbocharged four-cylinder comes in a bit under that at 26 combined.

The dash and center stack create a seamless look in the 2014 Sonata’s cabin, giving the interior a modern, elegant feel. While the 4.3-inch touchscreen isn’t the greatest, its functionality is astounding with crisp graphics and easy to use icons. The Sonata offers an abundant amount of legroom, allowing passengers of any size to sit in both the front and the back with ease.

According to government crash testing, the Sonata is top-notch in safety, receiving the highest possible rating of five out of five stars for overall crashworthiness. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety also found the Hyundai Sonata to be top-ranked, awarding the sedan its highest possible rating of “Good” in the moderate-overlap frontal-offset, side-impact, and roof-strength protection. Standard safety features include antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front seat side-impact airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, and active front head restraints. BlueLink, Hyundai’s emergency telematics systems, is also standard, along with a rearview camera (which isn’t standard on the base GLS model).
