The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently awarded the 2014 Hyundai Veloster its overall five-star crash test rating, which is the highest rating that the government administration doles out. The 2014 Hyundai Veloster top safety rating signals its success across several tests run by the NHTSA.

Specifically, the Veloster received four stars in both front and rollover crash tests and five stars in the side crash test.

Standard safety features for the Veloster are managed by a Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) system, which runs Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and the Motor-Driven Power Steering (MDPS). In addition, all Velosters feature a state-of-the-art braking package, which includes four-wheel disc brakes, an Anti-Lock Braking System with Brake Assist, and Electronic Brake-force Distribution. In addition, the Veloster boasts six airbags, daytime running lights, and a rearview camera.

“The Veloster nameplate was designed to bring a new, unconventional look to the subcompact car segment without compromising occupant safety,” said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Through the employment of high-tech safety systems like Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist and the use of high-strength, yet lightweight materials during construction, we are able to deliver a package that is unique, but safer than ever.”

Other Hyundai vehicles to have grabbed the five-star NHTSA rating in their most recent model years include the Elantra, Elantra GT, Genesis, Genesis Coupe, Santa Fe, Santa Fe Sport, and Sonata.
