What’s New for the 2014 Kia Optima

There are multiple small changes for the 2014 Optima, including updated front and rear styling, better front seats, and a restyled steering wheel. Keyless ignition/entry, a blind-spot monitoring system, rear parking sensors, and new display screens are all new features as well.

A 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine comes standard on the LX, EX, and SX trims, producing 192 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque, while a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is optional on the SX and standard on the Limited, producing 274 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. Every Optima comes in front-wheel-drive and with a six-speed automatic transmission.

EPA-estimated fuel economy for the 2.4-liter engine is 27 mpg combined, while the turbocharged engine is rated 24 mpg combined.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety also found the Optima to be top in safety, naming the sedan a Top Safety Pick. Four-wheel antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, side airbags, and side curtain airbags are all standard safety features for the 2014 Kia Optima, while a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind-spot monitoring system all come optional. The Uvo telematics system is also available, which provides drivers with roadside assistance and collision notification.
