2014 Lincoln MKT Review

When Alan Mulally took over as the CEO for the Ford Motor Company, he consolidated the nameplate so that it could focus on the Ford brand.  This included selling off Jaguar, Land Rover and Aston Martin, but Mulally saw something worth saving in its Lincoln luxury lineup.  He rebadged it the Lincoln Motor Company and began creating vehicles that could compete with luxury segment stalwarts, and those changes became apparent to us as we did our 2014 Lincoln MKT Review.

Lincoln has completely redesigned its entire lineup, including the 2014 MKT.  The sleek styling of the MKT, which is accentuated by a winged front grille and wraparound rear taillights, will have other three-row luxury SUVs taking a long, hard look at themselves.

Powering the 2014 Lincoln MKT is a 3.7-liter V6 that generates 303 horsepower and 278 lb.-ft. of torque, while returning 25 mpg highway.  Drivers can also opt for Ford’s revolutionary EcoBoost technology in the form of a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 that bolster performance figures to 365 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque, and is still able to return 23 mpg highway.

Technology has been an important aspect of Mulally’s transformation of the Lincoln brand and the 2014 MKT is a shining example.  The 2014 Lincoln MKT is loaded with advanced safety and convenience features, including SYNC® with MyLincoln Touch™, Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Collision Warning with Brake Support, BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane-Keeping System, Rear View Camera and Navigation System with SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link.

Mulally has already returned Ford to prominence, but Lincoln is still a work in progress.  Will vehicles like the 2014 Lincoln MKT be able to rejuvenate the luxury brand?  Let us know what you think in the comments below.
