The 2014 Mercedes B-Class is the first-ever battery electric car from the German luxury automaker. Powered by a 130 kW electric motor and a 28-kWh lithium-ion battery, the 2014 B-Class generates 174 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque.

The 2014 B-Class does produce some notable performance figures for an electric vehicle, but Mercedes’ focus when creating the B-Class was undoubtedly efficiency. The 2014 Mercedes B-Class can travel up to 115 miles on emissions-free, electric-only driving. The B-Class can achieve a full charge in just four hours from a 240 volt outlet.

Drivers will experience the premium materials and elegant design schemes they have come to expect from Mercedes when they step inside the 2014 B-Class. In addition to expected luxury, the B-Class boasts connected vehicle technology with remote monitoring and pre-entry climate controls.

Standard safety features on the 2014 Mercedes B-Class includes Collision Prevention Assist with Adaptive Brake Assist. Blind Spot Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Active Parking Assist are also available.

      Originally, the B-Class was supposed to be released this winter, but now it looks like it won’t make it out until summer in select states (CA, CT, MD, OR, NJ, NY, RI, and VT), with a wide release in 2015. Bummer, right?
