The Mercedes-Benz E-Class has been updated considerably for the 2014 model year.

What’s New for the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

For the 2014 model year, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class will see a lot of changes. There are a number of styling changes, including a more streamlined front end, along with some interior redesigns, including some new safety technologies and an auto stop-start system. The diesel model will see a change in powertrain, while the E63 AMG now features standard all-wheel-drive.

2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Exterior

If the “E” in E-Class were to stand for anything, we’re pretty sure it would stand for elegant. With sharp, sculpted body lines and smooth curves, the E-Class offers a sleek silhouette that is easily recognizable. The prominent Mercedes badge stands out on the overly simple grille, adding even more class than even we thought possible.

2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Performance

Depending on the specific E-Class model you choose, the powertrain can greatly vary. For the E250 Bluetec, a turbocharged 2.1-liter diesel-fueled four-cylinder engine churns out 195 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The E350 is powered by a traditional 3.5-liter V6 that boasts 302 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, which is the same engine available in the E400 Hybrid along with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack.

The E550 has the second most powerful engine of the pack with a twin-turbocharged 4.7-liter V8 that churns out a healthy 402 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. With the most powerful powertrain, the E63 AMG uses a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 to bust out 550 hp and 531 lb-ft of torque.

Every E-Class, with the exception of the E63, comes with a standard seven-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles on the steering wheel. The E63 comes with a seven-speed automatic that uses a multiplate clutch pack instead of a torque converter. Rear-wheel-drive is standard for the entire E-Class, though the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system is available.

2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Efficiency

According to the EPA, the E250 Bluetec has the highest fuel economy with 40 mpg highway. The E350 gets a bit lower with 24 mpg combined, while the E400 gets 26 combined. The E550 all-wheel-drive comes in at 20 mpg combined, while the E63 AMG sedan has a similar rating.

2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Interior

High quality materials, such as the three available wood veneers, create a luxurious cabin that also allows you to personalize your car at no-extra cost. An updated three-tube gauge cluster is easy to read, while also providing an interesting touch to the elegant dashboard design. The COMAND electronics interface, which comes complete with a large display screen, a control knob, and dash-mounted buttons, provides easy connectivity and entertainment. Compared to other cars in its segment, the E-Class provides comfortable and spacious seating throughout the cabin.

2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Safety

Antilock disc brakes, stability control, front and front-side airbags, front pelvic airbags, side curtain airbags, and a driver knee airbag are all standard features for the 2014 E-Class. Rear airbags are a stand-alone option. Safety technologies include a driver-drowsiness monitor, front and rear collision-mitigation systems, and an updated Driver Assistance package. The mbrace telematics system is also included, offering remote controls, driver monitoring, and emergency services.
