Despite the changes to the NCAA Football championship format (read: a playoff system that still isn’t actually any more definitive than the old BCS system), there will still be a glut of bowl games being played between December 20th and the National Championship game on January 12th. Among these games is the 2014 Quick Lane Bowl at Ford Field, which will put the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers against the UNC Tar Heels.

The first-ever Quick Lane Bowl will air on ESPN Friday, December 26th at 4:30pm EST, meaning that it will begin right at about the time that you wake up from the previous day’s food-and-gift-induced coma.

If you’re in or around the Detroit area and want to be there in person, tickets are available starting around $35 at www.quicklanebowl.com.

The 2014 Quick Lane Bowl is presented by the Detroit Lions and sponsored by Ford’s Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center. Ford Motor Company Executive Chairman Bill Ford also serves as the vice chairman of the Lions and was largely responsible for spearheading the creation of Ford Field.

The 2014 Quick Lane Bowl is one of five new bowl games being introduced for the 2014-15 schedule. Other new bowl games include the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl, Miami Beach Bowl, Boca Raton Bowl and Popeyes Bahamas Bowl.
