It looks like it’s time for a revolution at General Motors. In a recent road test done by Consumer Reports, the 2013 Dodge Ram was barely overthrown by the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado for the top spot as GM’s number one pickup.

After testing both pickups, Consumer Reports gave the Silverado a score of 81, ranking it as “excellent” and a few points higher than the 78 the Ram received. While Consumer Reports said the Ram was a “nicer place to spend your time” with its more comfortable interior, the Silverado still beat the Ram in the most important areas for pickup buyers—bed size, payload capacity, and the ability to tow a heavier trailer. Also, the Silverado was commended for its amenities, such as the tailgate and corner bumper steps, lower step-in cabin height and great handling.

“The reality is that you can’t go wrong with either one,” Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, said in a statement. “Both are capable trucks that get decent gas mileage and are as quiet inside as a good luxury car.”
