The 2014 Volkswagen GTI

What’s New for the 2014 Volkswagen GTI

The two-door Volkswagen GTI is no longer available for the 2014 model year and is now only offered in three colors—Candy White, Carbon Gray, or Deep Black. Wolfsburg and Driver’s Edition Trims are also replacing the Base and Autobahn trim levels.

2014 Volkswagen GTI Exterior

The exterior of the 2014 GTI makes it known that this isn’t your average car. Not only is it practical, but the GTI is classy and fun, too. The compact body is more than just cute—it’s got a whole lot of spunk you can’t help but want. The simple lines and subtle curve to the roof create an overall aesthetically pleasing look, while the rear spoiler and rounded hatchback add a sporty flair to the compact car.

2014 Volkswagen GTI Performance

A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine powers the 2014 Volkswagen GTI, producing 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel-drive comes standard along with a six-speed manual transmission, while a six-speed dual-clutch automated manual is optional. This powertrain allows the Volkswagen GTI to travel from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds.

2014 Volkswagen GTI Efficiency

With the manual transmission, the GTI gets an EPA-estimated 25 mpg combined, while the automated manual gets a higher 27 mpg combined.

2014 Volkswagen GTI Interior

Retro-style plaid seat fabric and a sophisticated design create an upscale, modern atmosphere within the cabin. There are few other cars in the sporty hatchback class that can match the GTI in material quality, giving you a lot more than you would expect for its price. The rear seat offers a surprising amount of room for any size passenger, with comfortable seats that support you whether you’re driving fast or slow.

2014 Volkswagen GTI Safety

According to the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, the 2014 GTI is top-notch in safety, receiving their highest rating of “Good” in moderate-overlap frontal-offset, side-impact, and roof-strength tests. The GTI comes standard with antilock brakes, stability and traction control, front-seat side airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags.

The picture shown on this article is of the 2015 Mk7 GTI, not the 2014 Mk6 GTI. I’d correct it because it is very misleading.
