Meet the refreshed 2014 Volvo XC60

What’s New for the 2014 Volvo XC60

There are several changes for the Volvo XC60 in the 2014 model year, including a restyled front end, an updated interior, and an upgraded all-wheel-drive system. Some option packages have also been revised, while the low-speed collision safety system has been updated and the transmission shift speeds of the Sport mode in T6 models have gotten quicker than before.

2014 Volvo XC60 Exterior

It can be difficult to find a small crossover SUV that still has style and presence—at least until you see the 2014 Volvo XC60. Since its debut in 2010, the XC60 has received a redesign that creates a sleeker, more modern profile that would appeal to any family. Sculpted lines give a bit of a rugged, rough-around-the-edges appearance that sets the small crossover apart from competitors. Vertical brake lights add a bit of flair to the rear, emphasizing the subtle curves seen throughout the XC60’s body.

2014 Volvo XC60 Performance

Three different engine options are available for the 2014 XC60 and are completely dependent on the model you choose. For the XC60 3.2, a 3.2-liter inline six-cylinder produces 240 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque with a standard six-speed automatic and front-wheel-drive. All-wheel drive is optional.
The second engine is available with the T6 model only and is a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6, which churns out a healthy 300 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is standard on this powertrain along with a six-speed automatic.
Finally, the T5 R-Design offers the third engine option, which is a more powerful version of the T6’s 3.0-liter. It produces 325 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. Like the T6, it comes standard with a six-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.

2014 Volvo XC60 Efficiency

For the 3.2-liter inline six-cylinder, EPA-estimated fuel economy is 21 mpg combined for the standard front-wheel-drive and 20 combined for the all-wheel-drive system. The T6 with the turbocharged 3.0-liter gets a decent 20 mpg combined, which is the same for the T6 R-Design.

2014 Volvo XC60 Interior

There’s no denying the flair of the 2014 Volvo XC60 cabin. A thin-panel center stack combines with the optional two-tone upholstery to create a modernized interior that is stylish, yet inviting. Dual temperature adjustment dials make adjusting the cabin climate simple, while the audio system and navigation system are easy to use. For such a small crossover, the rear seat is roomy with decent legroom, even for adults. The integrated dual child booster seats are a great feature as well, especially for families with young children.

2014 Volvo XC60 Safety

Volvo is known for their commitment to safety, which is reflected in the five stars that the XC60 received in government crash tests for overall crashworthiness. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has also recognized the car’s superior safety features, awarding it the highest possible rank of Top Safety Pick+. Standard safety features include antilock brakes, traction and stability control, front side airbags, side curtain airbags, and whiplash-preventing front seats. City Safety, which allows the XC60 to apply its brakes without driver intervention, is also standard. The optional Technology package also includes a driver attentiveness warning system, a lane departure warning system, and an impending collision warning system.
