The main engine offering in the 2015 Buick Verano is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder motor, delivering 180 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Alternatively, drivers can choose the available 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which increases the Verano’s power output to 250 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to either a six-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission.

The base engine is capable of accelerating from zero to 60 mph in nine seconds—fairly average for the segment. The turbocharged offering, however, can go from zero to 60 in just 6.6 seconds, which is speedy for its segment.
