2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat Is Most Powerful Muscle Car Ever
Boasts 707 horsepower—no, really.
If you haven’t seen (or heard!) the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat yet, stop everything you are doing (yes, even reading this article), and check it out now. (But please come back, okay?)
Impressive, right? But wait, there’s more. We’ve just gotten word from Dodge that the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat is the most powerful muscle car ever made. It’s not surprising, seeing as it houses a 6.2-liter HEMI® Hellcat engine, Dodge’s most powerful V8 on record, under the hood. This engine is the very first factory-supercharged HEMI, and it marks Dodge’s and SRT’s first foray into applying V8 supercharger technology.
Ready for the best part? That supercharged V8 is good for 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Don’t worry, we’ll wait while you pick your jaw up from the floor.
The 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat has also received a total redesign and complete reengineering so that it will be the “most true-to-form muscle coupe on the market with performance-enhancing technologies inside and out.” One of those performance-enhancing technologies is the all-new TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. Plus, it will be like stepping into a time machine for drivers, as the interior pays homage to the interior of the ’71 Challenger.
Another cool factoid about the Challenger SRT Hellcat: it comes with two key fobs, one red and one black. The black one limits the Hellcat’s potential, reducing engine output to just 500 horsepower. It is the red key fob that unleashes the complete capabilities of the hellacious Challenger SRT—and the only one worth using, obviously.
The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat will begin to arrive in Dodge dealerships in the third quarter of this year.
