2015 Cherokee MPG Gets Boost Over Last Year’s Model
The EPA has released official 2015 Cherokee mpg numbers, and it seems as though the new-for-2014 model has already seen a nice little fuel economy boost. This year, the Cherokee yields 29 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg in the city for a combined economy rating of 24 mpg. The previous model saw 28 mpg on the highway, 19 mpg in the city, and 22 mpg combined.

It should be noted that these 2015 Cherokee mpg numbers are for the front-wheel-drive V6 model. The four-wheel-drive V6 still puts out impressive numbers, however, at 28 mpg on the highway and 20 mpg in the city, up from 27 and 29 mpg respectively.
The 2015 Cherokee’s V6 engine benefits this year from stop-start technology and some aerodynamic tweaks, though the EPA does not currently take stop-start systems into account when determining fuel economy estimates. Despite its boost in efficiency, the Cherokee remains a potent competitor, producing 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque.
