2015 Chevrolet Silverado Custom Revealed

Chevrolet has made it explicitly clear that it wants to build an affordable EV for everyone (and, as we discovered this morning, it will), and that same philosophy seems to extend to the newly-revealed 2015 Silverado Custom. With a starting price of $33,820 for a double-cab V8 pickup truck, Chevrolet is putting forth a powerful truck that will be of eminent appeal to those not looking to pay an arm and a leg for power.

“The economic recovery has led to booming sales of high-end pickups like the Silverado High Country,” said Sandor Piszar, marketing director for Chevy Trucks. “But there are also millions of customers in the heart of the market who want a great looking, well-equipped truck at an affordable price. The Silverado Custom is a truck they can be proud to own and proud to drive.”

Just because the 2015 Chevy Silverado Custom is affordable does not mean that it is threadbare. Based on the double-cab Silverado LS, the Custom gets 20-inch aluminum wheels; chrome bumpers, mirror caps, and door handles; and a body-colored top cap just above the bumper. On the inside you’ll find a 40/20/40 cloth front seat, power windows and doors, and Chevy MyLink with 4G LTE and built-in Wi-Fi.

Chevy expects that most customers will choose to equip the Silverado Custom with the available 5.3-liter EcoTec4 V8, which generates 355 horsepower and up to 23 mpg highway (the 4.3-liter EcoTec3 V6 is also available). With that engine and color-keyed carpeting, the 2WD Silverado Custom will run $33,820 and a 4×4 will cost $37,800. The order banks will open this month.

Per Chevy’s market research, the ideal 2015 Silverado Custom customer wants to keep their truck for a long time, looks for dependability, and demands a vehicle that is both easy and inexpensive to maintain.

“These men and women rely on their trucks every day, and they value things that are tried and true,” said Piszar. “The Silverado Custom is from the most dependable, longest-lasting family of full-size pickups on the road, and we think it is a great choice for hard-working truck customers.”
