Remember the ominous Chevy Impala Blackout concept that the Bowtie Brand took to SEMA last month? Edmunds is reporting that Chevy has given the project the green light and that we should be seeing a production model, the 2015 Chevy Impala Midnight Edition, as early as next spring.

What made the Blackout concept truly baleful was its blacked-out features. Those styling cues should remain on the actual Impala Midnight Edition due out next year. Among those styling cues are a blacked-out grille, black bowtie, and a restyled steering wheel.

The Midnight Edition should also get a black grille surround and rear spoiler and painted mirrors caps, and sit on 19-inch aluminum wheels, much like the Blackout concept. As for the interior, drivers can anticipate all-black and leather-trimmed.

“Blacked-out is a huge trend,” said Steve Majoros, Chevy’s marketing director for cars and crossovers. “You see so many smoked gray wheels, black wheels.”

It’s nice to see the Impala joining the ranks of blacked-out models. There is no word yet on pricing for the 2015 Chevy Impala Midnight Edition, but those figures should trickle through the works soon.
