After spending years nipping at the heels of critically acclaimed imports, America’s sports car is finally getting some recognition for being as good, if not better, than its expensive foreign rivals. That validation comes in the form of the latest J.D. Power Survey, in which the 2015 Corvette Stingray beat out the Porsche 911 for the title of Most Satisfying Car in the “Midsize Premium Sports Car” category.
Close to 85,000 drivers who bought a vehicle in the last 90 days were surveyed for J.D. Power’s 2015 APEAL study. Results showed that Vette customers were the most satisfied, meaning the Porsche 911 was relegated to the first runner-up position (there was no second runner-up).
The 911 finished first in 2014, but the new Corvette’s improved fuel economy (30 mpg on the highway), acceleration, and audio system helped it take the top spot this year.
“Interestingly, storage was also an advantage vs. the competition in this segment — with owners citing more trunk space,” said J.D. Power.
This marks the first time in ten years that the Corvette has finished first in the J.D. Power APEAL study. Looks like the latest generation of the classic muscle car is truly a return to form.
