Now we come to the real reason you’re interested in the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat: its performance. The Hellcat is equipped with a 6.2-liter HEMI® Hellcat engine (hence the name), which lays down an unbelievable 707 horsepower. This is the most powerful V8 engine ever produced in Dodge history, and it makes the Challenger SRT Hellcat the most powerful muscle car available today.

In addition to 707 horsepower, the Hellcat also lays down 650 lb-ft of torque. And in testing performed by the National Hot Rod Association, the car managed a 1/4-mile time of 11.2 seconds at 125 mph, making it the fastest muscle car ever as well as the most powerful.

Other elements of the RWD Challenger SRT Hellcat that make it a powerful beast include SRT tuned Bilstein® 3-mode active suspension, hydraulic brake assist booster, and a choice between a six-speed manual TREMEC transmission and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

When equipped with the manual transmission, the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat weighs a hefty 4,449 pounds. Couple that with a 707-hp V8 and you have yourself a recipe for a gas guzzler, right? Well, actually, no.

Dodge reports that the Challenger SRT Hellcat gets an impressive 22 mpg on the highway when equipped with the optional TorqueFlight eight-speed automatic transmission. Other fuel economy numbers haven’t yet been released (we doubt it’s one of the EPA’s priorities), but when compared with its competitors, the SRT Hellcat comes out on top.
