The 2015 Ford F-150—in each of its SuperCrew, SuperCab, and Regular Cab iterations—earned the five-star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), passing the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) with flying colors and, in the process, allaying the fears of those still on the fence about the strength of the new pickup’s aluminum-alloy body.

Each body style was tested in a 4×2 and 4×4 configuration, and each earned the same five-star overall score. In each instance, the F-150 scored five stars in frontal crash testing and in the side barrier and side pole crash tests. Additionally, the F-150 earned four stars in the rollover test, not tipping in the dynamic test and testing out to a 19.1% rollover risk.

In addition to the numerous technologies and weight-saving techniques used to improve the all-new 2015 F-150 to previously unseen levels, the team behind the pickup implemented 31 safety-related innovations that make it one of the safest vehicles on the road overall. In NHTSA’s testing, the optional Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning were also recommended for improved safety.

Thus far, the new F-150 has earned numerous accolades from critics and consumers around America, racking up titles including Truck Trend’s 2015 Pickup of the Year and the 2015 North American Truck of the Year.
