2015 Fit Production PlantHonda has done it again: they’ve gone and made a good thing even better. We were first introduced to the new Fit back in January at NAIAS, and we fell in love with the happy little hatch quite quickly. The 2015 Honda Fit promises to be more powerful, more efficient, and more fun than its predecessor, meaning it’s even more of a must-try than the previous generation. Well, get ready: Honda recently announced that 2015 Fit production is now underway. Oh, yeah. It’s time to get excited.

According to Honda’s news release, 2015 Fit production has begun at a brand-new, technologically-advanced plant in Celaya, Mexico. This new plant has been two years and US$800 million in the making and is expected to help meet the increasing demand for fuel-efficient subcompact models.

“Our new plant in Mexico is based on the Honda Company Principle of maintaining a global viewpoint to supply products of the highest quality, yet at a reasonable price, for worldwide customer satisfaction,” said president and CEO of Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Takanobu Ito. “In Celaya, we can see these core values in action, with a commitment to the highest quality and efficiency and a focus on creating joy for our customers.”

When it reaches full production capacity later this year, the plant will employ 3,200 associates and produce an annual capacity of 200,000 vehicles. Honda has also announced plans to begin production of an all-new compact SUV at the plant late this year. Tres mysterious!

We are thrilled to see that 2015 Fit production is now underway, and look forward to spring (as though we didn’t already have reason enough), when they are promised to be available to the U.S. market. How about you? Any of you out there planning on getting yourself Fit when spring rolls around?
