The 2015 Ford Escape

What’s new for the 2015 Ford Escape?

The 2015 Ford Escape features only minor equipment changes.

2015 Ford Escape Exterior

The 2015 Ford Escape compact crossover SUV is available in three trims: S, SE, and Titanium. All three models feature a chiseled and aerodynamic exterior that does just enough to stand out from competitors like the CR-V and RAV4.

The S trim’s standard exterior features include 17-inch steel wheels, an integrated blind-spot mirror, and keyless entry. Optional for the S are rear parking sensors, rear privacy glass, remote start, and roof rails.

The SE trim bumps the wheels up from steel to alloy and adds automatic headlights, foglights, a keyless entry keypad, and rear privacy glass (standard, as opposed to optional on the S). The optional SE Convenience package adds a number of exterior and interior features. Among the exterior features are rear parking sensors and roof rails. The optional Leather Comfort package only adds heated mirrors to the exterior. Individual exterior options on the SE trim include 18-inch wheels, a cargo cover, a panoramic sunroof, parking sensors, a power liftgate, and remote ignition.

Finally, exterior features for the top-of-the-line Titanium model include all exterior content from both the SE Convenience package and the Leather Comfort package, as well as standard 18-inch wheels, keyless ignition and entry, power liftgate with hands-free operation, and remote ignition. There is an optional Titanium Technology package that adds several awesome safety technologies, as well as automatic wipers and xenon headlights. Other exterior options include 19-inch alloy wheels and the panoramic sunroof.

2015 Ford Escape Performance

There are three available engines for the 2015 Ford Escape. Across the board, drivers will get a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, though all-wheel drive is available on SE and Titanium.

2015 Ford Escape Overview

Standard on the S is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, good for 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. The SE and Titanium, meanwhile, get a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder, pumping out 178 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Drivers of the SE and Titanium can also opt for a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder as well. This baby lays out 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque.

2015 Ford Escape Efficiency

The 2.5-liter four-cylinder is rated at 31 mpg on the highway, 22 mpg in the city, and 25 mpg combined. Meanwhile, the 1.6-liter four-cylinder gets 32 mpg highway, 23 mpg city, and 26 mpg combined, through AWD drops it by 1 – 2 mpg. Finally, the optional 2.0-liter four-cylinder gets 30 mpg highway, 22 mpg city, and 25 mpg combined, though AWD again lowers it by 1 – 2 mpg.

2015 Ford Escape Interior

The inside of the Escape is incredibly comfortable, with an intuitive cabin and easy-to-read gauges. The only real complaint on the interior is the standard infotainment interface, which isn’t the most user-friendly on the market. (Opting for the MyFord Touch system is the way to go.) Cargo space behind the rear seats is competitive at 34.3 cubic feet.

Interior content on the S trim includes a 60/40-split folding and reclining rear seat, air conditioning, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, cruise control, full power accessories, a height-adjustable driver seat, a rearview camera, a six-speaker sound system (with auxiliary audio jack, CD player, and USB/iPod interface), and the Sync voice command electronics interface.

2015 Ford Escape Overview

The SE trim adds an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat with two-way power lumbar, a rear center armrest, satellite radio, and upgraded cloth upholstery. The SE Convenience package tacks on a 110-volt household-style power outlet, an 8-inch touchscreen with MyFord Touch, dual-zone automatic climate control, a nine-speaker sound system, and upgraded Sync services. The Leather Comfort package adds heated front seats, leather upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Available individually is a navigation system.

As mentioned above, the Titanium trim combines content from the SE Convenience and Leather Comfort packages. It also adds ambient interior lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, driver memory settings, an eight-way power-adjustable passenger seat with power lumbar, and a Sony 10-speaker sound system with HD radio. A navigation system is optional.

2015 Ford Escape Safety

Standard on the 2015 Ford Escape are antilock disc brakes, blind-spot mirrors, a driver knee airbag, Ford’s MyKey, front-seat side airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags.

Optional on the S and SE are rear parking sensors, which are standard on the Titanium. Drivers can opt for a blind-spot warning system with cross-traffic alert on the Titanium.
