2015 Ford F-150 fuel economy figures have been released

And now, ladies and gentlemen, the moment you’ve all been waiting for: the revelation of 2015 Ford F-150 fuel economy figures. As could be expected, the newer and lighter F-150 has the highest EPA-estimated fuel economy of any full-size, gas-powered pickup on the market, with the 2.7-liter EcoBoost®-equipped 4×2 model pulling in 19 city mpg, 26 highway mpg, and 22 combined mpg.

When compared to the 2008 F-150 4×2 equipped with the 4.6-liter V8, Ford has improved fuel economy by five city mpg, seven highway mpg, and six combined mpg while increasing power by 77 horsepower and 81 lb-ft of torque, max towing capacity by 1,300 lbs., and max payload by 280 lbs.

“We set out to create the future of tough with the new F-150,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development. “We are delivering with the toughest, smartest and most capable F-150 ever – and now the highest EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of any full-size gas-powered pickup in America.”

Ford’s other three available F-150 powertrains are no slouches by any stretch. The standard 3.5-liter Ti-VCT V6 ranks with an estimated 18 city mpg, 25 highway mpg, and 20 combined mpg, which marks an 80-horsepower and 1,900-lb. max towing improvement over the 2009 F-150 with its 4.2-liter V6.

The 5.0-liter V8 is good for 15 city mpg, 22 highway mpg, and 18 combined mpg. Compared to the 2008 F-150 with a 4.6-liter V8, the 4×2 model is one mpg better in the city, three mpg better on the highway, two mpg better combined, 137 horsepower stronger and 93 lb-ft of torque stronger, and capable of towing an additional 3,900 lb. and hauling an additional 1,330 lb. of payload.

The 2015 F-150 4×2 with the available 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine is capable of a best-in-class 12,200 max towing capacity while returning 17 city mpg, 24 highway mpg, and 20 combined mpg.

Finally, the best news: Ford has begun shipping the 2015 F-150 to dealerships around the country, meaning they should be arriving as scheduled within the next two weeks.
