The 2015 F-150 SuperCrew was originally tested by IIHS in April, but Automotive News noted that additional protective bars in front of and behind the steering wheel may have skewed the results. In the retest, the SuperCrew once again stood up to the challenge and passed with flying colors.
The SuperCab and Regular Cab versions did not meet the standards for the Top Safety Pick, but Ford spokesman Mike Levine told Auto News that the automaker will implement “countermeasures” to both for the 2016 model year in order to make the entirety of the lineup Top Safety Pick-worthy.
