2015 Ford TransitSick of hearing about all the great things that the 2015 Ford Transit is capable of yet? Thought not. Good thing, too, because there’s more good news: The 2015 Transit has been tested to get 46 percent better fuel efficiency than the outgoing E-Series and the best gas engine torque rating and maximum cargo capacity in its class.

The 2015 Transit comes standard with a 3.7-liter V6, but can also be equipped with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost® or a 3.2-liter Power Stroke® diesel. When fitted with either the 3.7-liter V6 or the EcoBoost, the low- and medium-roof regular wheelbase models get 14 mpg city/19 mpg highway, which could generate anywhere between $650 and $1,700 in annual fuel cost savings when compared to comparable E-Series models.

Additionally, the EcoBoost model gets 310 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, which is best among full-size vans. The 2015 Transit has a maximum payload capacity of 4,650 pounds and a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 lbs.

The 2015 Ford Transit also offers best-in-class gas engine cargo capacity—up to 487.3 cubic feet when properly equipped. The extended-length wagon model also features best-in-class cargo storage (100.5 cubic feet), the high-roof van model features best-in-class cargo height, and the high-roof van model features best-in-class passenger compartment height. All 2015 Transit models offer best-in-class rear door opening height.

Yeah, that’s an awful lot of best-in-class distinctions. Then again, it’s hard to expect much less from the successor to the 35-year best-selling E-Series, which has long been considered the first name in cargo vans.

The 2015 Ford Transit will be available for purchase later this summer.
