2015 GMC Canyon DebutWhen the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show, General Motors’s enthusiasts figured it wouldn’t be long until the car industry finally got a glimpse of the mid-size pickup’s GMC sibling.  Here it is, not even two months later, and it turns out that they weren’t wrong—the 2015 GMC Canyon will be revealed next week at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, also known as the Detroit Auto Show.

The GMC Canyon is going to be quite different from the Colorado, even though they share similar underpinnings. While the teaser image released before the Chevrolet Colorado’s big debut in November is the only idea we have of what the new truck will look like, given that the latest teaser offering of rather fierce-looking headlights and the GMC logo emerging from the dark don’t give us much to go on as far as shape or stylings.

Auto Evolution suggests that the 2015 GMC Canyon will feature the same standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder and optional 3.6-liter V6 (193 and 302 horsepower, respectively) engine options that were announced for the 2015 Colorado.

On Friday, MLive.com reported that a projection that read “GMC 1.12.14” was seen on the side of the same Russell Industrial Center where the Detroit Auto Show will begin on Sunday. As far as better looks at the 2015 GMC Canyon itself, it seems we’ll have to wait until that magic date.
