2015 GMC Sierra 3500 HD Wins Ultimate Heavy Duty Challenge
Cars.com today announced that the 2015 GMC Sierra 3500 HD won the overall title in this year’s Ultimate Heavy Duty Challenge 1-ton diesel category. To earn its victory, the 3500 HD went through rigorous testing with Cars.com, PickupTrucks.com, and Mrtruck.com, along with its competitors, the Ford F-350 and the Ram 3500.
“Our judges hugely appreciated the all-new interior and infotainment interface and 8-inch navigation screen,” said Mark Williams, editor at PickupTrucks.com. “In the end, the GMC was the best all-around player of our competitors.”

The 2015 GMC Sierra 3500 HD reportedly did quite well in vehicle control while towing and required absolutely no brake pedal depressions during a 7.2-mile descent in Colorado, from the Eisenhower Pass, which features 7 percent grades. The other two trucks did not compare. In fact, the Sierra 3500 HD also led in 0-60 mph time on the Milan drag strip, fuel economy while trailering in Michigan, and 60-0 braking distance at Milford Proving Ground.
“We’ve always believed we’ve had the best heavy duty truck on the market,” said Sierra Marketing Manager, Stuart Pierce. “This validation from PickupTrucks.com, a leader in covering the pickup industry, is gratifying for the entire team that designed, engineered, and now sells this capable and refined truck. We look forward to building on this accomplishment as we move forward.”
