2015 Hyundai Elantra Configurator Reveals No Coupe Option
With great reluctance, the Elantra Coupe turns its back on the world.
The much-anticipated 2015 Hyundai Elantra Configurator has hit the ‘net– much-anticipated, at least, for car geeks like us who like to dream within our budgets. Overall, little has changed between the last year and this year’s 2015 model. Except, the configurator reveals one significant difference:
The Hyundai Elantra will only be available with doors in sets of four.
The Coupe Has Left the Building
Oh, you didn’t know the Elantra had a coupe option the past two years? Perhaps that’s why Hyundai decided to retire it so quickly. According to Automobile magazine, the sedan-version of the best-selling Elantra suffered underwhelming sales rates.
While a disappointing loss, we think this makes sense. A buyer who would be interested in the Elantra is likely searching for a spacious, practical family sedan within that class. Yet, a coupe version negates the qualities that make the sedan attractive to such buyers.
And now, with great reluctance, on to what the Elantra does have to offer…
2015 Hyundai Elantra Configurator
Your bare-bones Elantra will be $17, 250; with freight, that becomes $18,060, only about $50 more than the starting price for last year’s 2014 model.
The Body
The 2015 Hyundai Elantra Configurator has three trim selections available, which all start at differing MSRP rates:
- For SE edition: 1.8L 6-speed automatic (extra $1,000) or manual
- For Sport edition: MSRP begins at $21,600 and has the same two options
- For Limited edition: MSRP starts at $21,700 but only offers automatic, at no extra charge.
If you’re a fan of the rainbow, you won’t find much inspiration here. The Elantra’s exterior colors resemble the same palate offered by and other sedan in its class: Monaco White, Shimmering Silver, Windy Sea Blue, Black Noir Pearl, Geranium Red, and Titanium Gray Metallic. Interior, you have options of grey leather, beige leather, and black leather (availability depends slightly on exterior selection). None of your color selections will change your vehicle’s price.
Optional Packages and Accessories
There are two packages offered for the Elantra SE version: the Style and the Popular Equipment (a prerequisite for the Sytle pkg). The $900 Popular Equipment Package features:
- 4.3 inch color touchscreen audio system with rearview camera
- Automatic headlight control
- Bluetooth hands-free system with voice recognition
- 16-inch alloy wheels
- Front Fog lights
- Steering-wheel mounted auto controls
- Cloth insert door trim
- sliding center armrest
- Illuminated vanity mirrors and ignition
- One-touch auto-up driver’s window
If you’ve selected the Popular Equipment and decide to upgrade by also incorporating the Style Package, for an extra $750, you’ll get:
- Power tilt-and-slide sunroof
- Aluminum door sills (front doors)
- Black cloth interior
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob
- Projector headlights with LED accents
- Chrome beltline molding
The Elantra Sport has only one optional package, a Tech kit for $1,200 that includes:
- Navigation System with 7-inch screen
- Hyundai Blue Link Telematics System
- 360-watt premium auto with external amplifier
In addition to those features, the $2,400 Ultimate Package available only for Limited also features:
- Proximity key with electronic push button start/immobilizer
- Power tilt-and-slide sunroof
- Dual automatic temperature control with clean air ionizer and auto-defogging
The Elantra offers a moderate amount of accessories, most of which are customary knickknacks:

The Bottom Line
At most, your most tricked-out 2015 Hyundai Elantra will land you squarely in the mid-$27,000’s, costing about $10,000 for all available extras.
That price, reasonable as it may be, will be little consolation to those four people out there who were hoping to only have two doors on their 2015 Hyundai Elantra.
