What’s New for the 2015 Hyundai Tucson?

Although the Tucson carries over into 2015 largely unchanged, there are a couple of new features worth mentioning. Firstly, the base GLS model gets an optional new popular equipment package, which offers automatic headlights, a rearview camera, a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, leatherette upholstery, and a six-way power driver’s seat. Secondly, the Limited model now comes with standard LED taillights.

2015 Hyundai Tucson Performance

The 2015 Hyundai Tucson is offered with a choice of two engines. The GLS is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder motor paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. This pairing makes 164 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque.

The second option is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that’s housed beneath the hood of the SE and Limited models. This engine is also mated to a six-speed automatic, and produces 164 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque.

The efficiency ratings for the 2015 Tucson are pretty average for a vehicle of its class. The base 2.0-liter engine yields a combined mpg rating of 25 (23 city and 29 highway) when paired with the front-wheel-drive system, and 23 mpg combined (20 city and 25 highway) when paired with the all-wheel-drive system.

Choosing the 2.4-liter engine will get you 24 mpg combined (21 city and 28 highway) with front-wheel drive, and 22 mpg combined (20 city and 25 highway) with all-wheel drive.

2015 Hyundai Tucson Safety

Each 2015 Hyundai Tucson is equipped with  stability control, traction control, active front head restraints, antilock disc brakes, side curtain airbags, front side airbags, a rearview camera, hill descent control, and a hill-holder feature. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded the Tucson with four out of five stars for its performance in crash tests. Additionally, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the 2015 Tucson the top rating of “good” in four out of five crash tests, although the model fell short in the tricky small overlap front crash test, earning a “poor” rating.
