It’s Alive! The 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is Coming
That faint thumping that you hear somewhere off in the distance? That’s the faltering heartbeat of the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, who appears to have been given a new lease on life in the United States—at least through the 2015 model year.
Amanda Savercool reached out to the folks at AutoGuide.com to let them know that rumors of the Lancer EVO’s demise have been greatly exaggerated, saying, “At least for here in the U.S., Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. is committed to introducing the 2015 model year Lancer Evolution. Production of North American-specification Lancer Evolution models for the 2015 model year will commence in July 2014.”
So there you have it, folks. If you were among those lamenting the death of the Lancer EVO, now’s your chance to get good with it before it goes. It can be pretty well assumed that, barring absurd sales figures for the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, the little sports car that could will not see an eleventh-generation model any time soon.
The 2014 Lancer Evolution carries a $34,995 MSRP and features a turbocharged 2.0-liter DOHC MIVEC engine that generates 291 horsepower. Twin Clutch Sportronic® Shift Transmission, paddle shifters, Super-All Wheel Control, Active Center Differential (ACD), Front Helical and Rear Mechanical Limited Slip Differential, and race-inspired RECARO® front bucket seats all come standard.
