2015 Ford Mustang GT NHTSA Five-Star Overall Vehicle Score

The 2015 Ford Mustang is, inarguably, one of the most exciting new vehicles on the market today. Now, according to the results of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) crash tests, it’s safe to say that it’s also one of the safest.

The new Mustang earned a five-star Overall Vehicle Score from NHTSA by being perfect across the board. The Mustang fastback earned five stars in the frontal crash, side crash, and rollover tests.

“The new Mustang was built from the ground up,” said Carl Widmann, Mustang chief engineer.  “It is more refined, more powerful and it has everything people have come to love about Mustang for the past 50 years.”

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise: since its announcement, Ford has touted that the next-generation Mustang would be one of the safest cars it has ever produced thanks to innovations that include a new airbag design, SYNC 911 Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

The Mustang convertible was also granted a five-star rating, though it was seemingly not rated in the frontal crash or side crash tests.
