In The Center for Auto Safety/The Car Book’s annual list of Best Bets, only one large premium utility vehicle was cited for having a superlative combination of the nine vital factors that determine the award: the 2015 Lincoln Navigator.

The Navigator pulled down an overall rating of 7, earning it a 2015 Best Bet award. This was based upon the average score earned in nine different categories—combo crash tests, safety features, rollover, preventative maintenance, repair costs, warranty, fuel economy, complaints, and insurance.

The Navigator earned the highest score possible for its score in crash testing and insurance cost. Earlier this year, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded the Navigator with its five-star Overall Vehicle Score after it aced all tests in the New Car Assessment Program.

The 2015 Navigator also received high marks for having little in the way of repair costs or consumer complaints, an exceptional warranty, and being amenable in terms of preventative maintenance.

New for 2015 is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, which provides the Navigator with 380 horsepower and best-in-class towing and max payload numbers, as well as standard electric power-assisted steering and Lincoln Drive Control.

“The 2015 Lincoln Navigator provides many upgrades over the outgoing model, offering customers – whether loyal Navigator owners or drivers new to the brand – new and compelling reasons to consider driving a Navigator,” said Matt VanDyke, director, global Lincoln.
