The new 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel was unveiled today at NAIAS.

Today marks day two of the dramatic product reveals at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, and among the hottest reveals so far is the all-new 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel, which Bob Hegbloom, the new president and CEO of Ram, says is for all of us with a “rebel inside.” (And no, that doesn’t mean those of us that eat rebels for breakfast. At least, we don’t think so…maybe we should go back and ask for clarification.)

The 2015 Ram Rebel sees a number of updates for performance to satisfy even the most power-hungry of drivers. These updates include a 1.0-inch raised ride height for better off-roading and 33-inch Toyo Open Country A/T all-terrain tires, mounted to the Rebel’s 17-inch silver and black cast aluminum wheels. The 1500 Rebel also boasts front and rear shocks from Bilstein, Ram’s air suspension system that sports a 1.0-inch lift (to clear those enormous tires), and a softer rear stabilizer bar for enhanced dynamics. With all of the improvements, the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel earns best-in-class ground clearance of 10.3 inches.

Drivers can only get the Rebel pickup as a crew cab with the 5-foot, 7-inch bed, but they can choose between the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 (305 hp, 269 lb-ft of torque, and 25 mpg) and the more powerful 5.7-liter HEMI (395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque). They can also choose between 4×2 and 4×4 configurations, but only the HEMI is available with the 4×2.

The powertrain is backed with a five-year/100,000-mile warranty.

But it’s not just the 1500’s performance that has been enhanced. The Rebel also sees updates to the exterior and the interior. On the outside, the 2015 Ram Rebel sports a blacked-out grille with silver Ram badging, a black off-road front bumper, and new LED fog lamps. Other updates for the front of this 1500 include new front tow hooks, a billet silver skid plate, and black bezel bi-functional projector headlamps (complete with LED marker lights).

The sides of the Rebel continue the blacked-out appearance, with black mirrors, lower body panels, and Power Wagon wheel-arch moldings. Below the moldings sit the 17-inch wheels mentioned above. Meanwhile, the rear of the Rebel sports blacked-out (go figure) lettering for the Ram stamp on the tailgate. Ram’s also given the bumper a black powder coating and black bezels for the tail lamps. Also on the rear is the optional backup camera.

Drivers can opt for one of five colors for the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel: Bright Silver Metallic, Bright White, Brilliant Black, Flame Red, and Granite Crystal Metallic. Drivers can also choose between a monotone and a dual-tone paintjob.

On the inside, the black theme continues, this time mated with gray and red. The instrument panel is all-black, as are the center console and door armrests. Each are enhanced, however, with two-tone Radar Red and Light Gray accent stitching. Ram’s also given an Iron Gray Metallic finish to the center console and center stack, and added a bin to the center, good for holding a cell phone or a tablet.

The semi-perforated black leather-wrapped steering wheel is heated, as are the front seats. Those seats sport Light Diesel Gray accent stitching and Radar Red on the headrests.

The Rebel name is badged onto the glove box door, and the truck even sports all-weather rubber floor mats.
