Since it’s been a steady seller for Scion over the last couple of years, the automaker decided to carry the hatchback over into 2015 virtually unchanged.
The one difference between the 2014 and 2015 models is that the 2015 Scion xB gets a standard rearview camera.

The 2015 Scion xB is one of those vehicles that was introduced along with a whole host of other unique-looking multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs), like the Kia Soul, the Nissan cube, and the Honda Element. Most of these quirky vehicles bowed out of the market fairly quickly, leaving the Kia Soul and the Scion xB. And its funky styling has remained fairly unchanged since its introduction in the mid-2000s.
The boxy wagon comes in just one trim level, with 16-inch steel wheels, rear privacy glass, a chrome exhaust tip, front LED accent lights, and LED turn signal indicators in the power side mirrors. You also have the option to add a spoiler if you so wish.

The 2015 Scion xB comes with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine which is capable of pumping out 158 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. This same engine has been used in the Toyota Camry and RAV4, and does well in the Scion xB. It’s available mated to either a five-speed manual, or four-speed automatic transmission.
Although the engine seems pretty hefty for a smaller vehicle, the xB weighs more than 3,000 pounds, which makes it a bit more sluggish than you might expect. However, the xB is still capable of going from 0 to 60 mph in 8.6 seconds, which is fairly impressive for vehicles in this class.

Compact cars usually come with impressive fuel economy ratings that will make your trips to the pump much less frequent, and much more affordable. The Scion xB, however, disappoints a little in this regard. With an EPA-estimated 22 mpg city and 28 mpg highway (24 mpg combined), the xB falls short of the efficiency ratings of its competitors.

Given its boxy demeanor, it’s not surprising to learn that the 2015 xB’s interior offers a ton of room. With the rear seats up, there’s 21 cubic feet of cargo space; fold those seats down, and you’ve got a massive 70 cubic feet, which is much more than most cars in this class offer.
The seats themselves are comfortable and roomy—both in the front and the back. Standard features include a rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, a six-speaker Pioneer sound system with 6.1-inch touchscreen, and an RCA output for additional speakers. You can also opt for an available BeSpoke sound system, which comes with smartphone app integration and a navigation system.

The 2015 Scion xB is as safe for first-time car owners as it is for established families. It comes with front, side, and side-curtain airbags; stability control; traction control; antilock brakes; and a rearview camera.
When tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the xB earned the highest score of “good” on the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints and seats tests. The only test in which the hatchback did poorly was the tricky small overlap front crash test, which was developed after the xB was designed. This is something that will likely be addressed by Scion in future xB models.
